ISTANBUL—President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the funeral in absentia held at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul for Egypt’s first democratically elected President Mohammed Morsi.

Speaking during the funeral, President Erdoğan stated that he does not believe that Mohammed Morsi died of natural causes, and noted that his body was not delivered to Morsi’s family.

Drawing attention to the fact that Morsi was the first democratically elected President of Egypt, President Erdoğan noted that the West could not even tolerate it, and pointed to their silence.
